Cadwallader Cup

This year the final was evenly contested between Liverpools Stagecoach Gilmoss and Arriva Green Lane.

Stagecoach Gilmoss were leading 1-0 at half time thanks to a Paul Smith penalty with the better chances falling to Arriva Green Lane who couldn't capitalise on their chances.

Soon after half time Paul Smith headed Gilmoss into a 2 goal lead but Greenlane fought back and levelled with 2 goal from Barto. Greenlane then looked like going on to win the game but as they battled on for the win Gilmoss scored a breakaway goal with Paul Smith completing his hatrick.

Final score Stagecoach Gilmoss 4  Arriva Green Lane 2 with a late controversial goal.

Well done to both team you did the NPTSA proud

The Finals of the Mick Mercer and over 35 competitions took place at FC Marine in            Liverpool Sunday 27th April 2014.                                                                                        Teams from Arriva Speke and Arriva Greenlane took part in both finals.

The Mick Mercer Final was played first. It was a very entertaining game which started with Greenlane dominating possession but Speke having the better game plan and their counter attack proving a fruitful going into a two goal lead with ten minutes to play.Greenlane rallied and fought back to make it 2 all with three minutes remaining. Speke then against the run of play scored with 2 minutes remaining and the cup seamed to be heading there way. However Greenlane scored with the last kick of the game to take it to extra time with Greenlane finally winning 5 – 3.  Special mention to Ronnie Morgan who scored all five Greenlane goals.

The W G Thomas Shield  Over 35 competion took place straight after.                            This turned out to be a one sided affair Greenlane dominated the game and eventually won 8 nil. It must be said that a lot of the Speke team played in the Mick Mercer final which took a toll on their fitness.

The Volvo Cup Final took place at Hereford United’s ground Sunday 4th May 2014 between Cumfy Bus and  Arriva Greenlane.                                                                                                 This was an entertaining game that was dominated by Cumfy Bus,they gave a display worthy of Champions winning the Cup for the first time in their history.                                                 Special mention to Simon Gates with his Man of the match performance.

The final of the First Cup also took place at Hereford United between Stagecoach Gilmoss and Arriva trains Cardiff. A very entertaining game that was evenly contested.Stagecoach started brightly and took an early lead then Arriva fought back and levelled with a penalty.Arriva Trains then created and wasted golden opportunities to take the lead and then were rocked by a ruthless finish by Gilmoss who then lead 2 -1 at half time.Gilmoss produced an outstanding second half scoring three goals. The Cup has returned to Gilmoss once again.
